INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

One of the most remarkable dates for Filipinos worldwide is the commemoration of the Philippines’ Independence Day. Canadian residents who trace their roots back to the Philippines are no exemption.
The JRAM Prince Albert celebrated the Philippine Independence in full regalia last June 10, 2018 at the First Baptist Church. Pastor Amy Vilog-Perez led in the celebrations by honoring God first in our Sunday worship service.
After the preaching of the Word, members of the women’s group showcased their own interpretation of the folk dance Itik – Itik. Clothed in traditional Filipino costume, their performance was well-received, touching hearts as memories of native home came back to mind. For their part, members of the men’s group performed their own version of a Tagalog song, “Pinoy Ako.”
The double celebration was capped with overflowing food that was shared by all. A special photo wall installation was also created by Phey Manzon and was collectively mounted by volunteers, including Eliza Aquino, Lydia Cuerbo, Jovita Rasonabe, Jon Manzon, Romeo Fermin and Euloge Kawloule
